The Ventanilla de Salud provides immigrant and Latino families culturally appropriate health education, free health screenings, and referrals to community health services in partnership with the Consulate General of Mexico in Austin.
Daily Screening & Outreach
Every day, the Ventanilla hosts health and immigrant focused organizations and volunteers to provide health screenings and/or navigation to the 150-200 daily visitors to the Consulate. We currently partner with over 20 local organizations for these daily mini health fairs.

Binational Health Week
The Ventanilla heads local efforts for the international two week event held annually in October. Binational Health Week brings together a wide range of community health focused non-profits, clinics and government agencies to provide free screenings, events, education and services to the Latino community.
Wellness Stand Program in Partnership with Sustainable Food Center
In 2012, the Ventanilla partnered with the Sustainable Food Center to bring the Wellness Stand/Puesto de Bienestar to their East Farmers Market once a month. The Wellness Stand provides blood pressure and blood sugar testing as well as health information and navigation to clients of the market, which also offers double value on SNAP and WIC vouchers. This program brings health into the public sphere and encourages people to see health screenings and nutritious food as connected elements of their overall health.
Regular Media Outreach
The Ventanilla is featured in regular segments on Spanish language media outlets including a weekly interview on Radio Mujer Austin and a monthly spot on Univision TV’s Despierta Austin.
